A long time Del Mar Woods resident said that he heard it was a wood lot of the old Hinterberg farm. August Hinterberg is listed as a Deerfield resident on the 1877 Lake County tax rolls. He also was told that there was an old stagecoach stop at the north end of Wildwood: “there was a very old rickety wooden one story building there.“

There are also some connections to the Elmwood Dairy Farm that belonged to Rasmussen family. Some historic maps of Lake County show J.Hickey as the owner of this land.

What we can prove with certainty is that first plan of our subdivision was mentioned in Chicago Tribune on Oct 25, 1925 with the For Sale add.

For the first time “Del – Mar Woods” name was used following year Sep 16, 1926:

Great Depression slowed down the development of our subdivision and for the next 20 years Del Mar Woods project was waiting for the better times.
